See those gorgeous women in the portfolio photos throughout my website? You could be one of them! Every one of those women was once exactly where you are: scrolling through my site, wondering if a boudoir photo session can really help you explore and discover that sexy side of yourself. Once you decide to take that step, the preparation begins!
One of the most fun steps in preparing for your session is finding all that delicious lingerie that will spice up your boudoir photos. Who doesn’t love an excuse to shop? Shopping for lingerie can be more intimidating than hitting the mall with your girlfriends, though. Many of the women I work with rarely indulge in lingerie, so where do you even begin?
Rest easy – I got you! Follow these tips to pick out the perfect lingerie for your boudoir photography experience.
Start Shopping Early
Every woman knows that it’s always a saga to try to find jeans that fit well, and lingerie is a whole other ballgame. The fit can be difficult to predict, so you want to allow yourself plenty of time to try out as many options as you might need.
That’s especially true if you’re shopping online, but don’t wait until the last minute if you’re planning to shop in person, either. You don’t want to find a piece that’s absolutely perfect but slightly the wrong size and learn that you waited too long for the right size to be ordered. Ultimately, I recommend starting your shopping at least two months before your session.
Don’t put too much pressure on your wardrobe, though. Remember, you’ll also have access to my amazing client closet filled with luxurious lingerie from sizes small to 4XL.
Be Brave
The goal of every boudoir session is for you to step outside your comfort zone, access that empowered goddess within yourself, and harness newfound confidence to carry with you. Your session is an opportunity to be brave, be bold, and embrace the adventure!
As you shop for lingerie, give yourself permission to at least try on those styles you’ve always loved but thought, “I could never pull that off.” No harm can come from trying. And remember, at your session, you’ll have the help of an expert boudoir stylist (yours truly) who can not only help you pinpoint the pieces that work best for your vision but can also pose you in the perfect ways to accentuate your figure and your lingerie.
Don’t Forget the Shoes!
As every fashionista knows, a great shoe can take any outfit to the next level, and that’s especially the case in boudoir fashion. There’s nothing like amazing shoes to amp up the drama in your boudoir photos or take the vibe in a whole new direction.
As you shop for lingerie, remember to pick out a few pairs of shoes to bring to the party, whether they’re new purchases or they’re favorites from your own collection. A pair of classic pumps or stilettos will be a timeless addition, and any other fun shoes that capture your personality can be an asset too. Cowboy boots, strappy sandals, combat boots – you name it, you can rock it!
Explore Your Multi-Dimensional Personality
Not a single one of us has just one uniform personality or one word that describes us, and your sexy side might be more dynamic than you think. Boudoir is an opportunity to connect with yourself – all sides of yourself – so why stick to one theme for your lingerie?
Look for pieces that fit a few different categories. You might have one outfit that’s innocent and subtle, another that’s old Hollywood glam, another that’s classically sexy, another that’s playful and adventurous, and so on.
Don’t Limit Yourself to Lingerie Alone
I’ve got news for you: if your partner ever told you that you looked hot in your work uniform, your painting clothes, or your oversized pajamas, they weren’t lying. Women can look stunning and sexy in just about anything, not just lingerie. So, as you plan your boudoir photography wardrobe, throw in some pieces that speak to other elements of your sensuality or your personality too. Some of my favorites include oversized sweaters, t-shirts with special significance, and luxurious robes.
Styling Your Boudoir Experience
If you do it right, shopping for your boudoir photo shoot will probably take some time and some sifting through duds to find the gems. But remember, at the end of the day, this experience is all about you and what you want to get out of it. I’m just here to help you harness your womanly power and guide you along the way. If you’re ready to give yourself a gift that will last a lifetime, book a boudoir photography session with Amy Lynn Portraits Boudoir today.
